A Mental Health Group Dedicated to Patient Care and Advancing Psychiatry

MHMG was founded by Dr. Leonardo Batista, a distinguished Psychiatrist and Chief Behavioral Health Officer with the U.S. Army with extensive experience in academic, hospital, and military settings.

Leadership
As the Chair of Psychiatry at  a renowned medical institution and Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Batista has demonstrated exceptional leadership in shaping the future of mental health care. With a proven track record of strategic vision, innovation, and collaboration, Dr. Batista has elevated the standard of psychiatric care within the organization and beyond. Under Dr. Batista’s leadership, MHMG is poised to lead the way in advancing excellence in mental health care, driving positive change, and making a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities.

Academic Excellence
With a background as a former professor at Brown University, with research fellowship at Massachusetts GeneralHospital, Harvard Medical School and psychiatry residency at Brown University, 

Dr. Batista brings a rich academic pedigree to MHMG. As a respected educator and mentor, he has inspired countless students and trainees to pursue careers in psychiatry and excel in their chosen field. Drawing upon Dr. Batista’s academic expertise, MHMG offers cutting-edge educational courses, evidence-based practices, and innovative approaches to mental health care that are grounded in the latest research and best practices.

Military Experience
Dr. Batista’s experience as a Major and Chief Behavioral Health Office at the 804th Medical Brigade in the US Army underscores MHMG’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and service. With a background in military psychiatry, Dr. Batista brings a unique perspective and skill set to the table, informed by the rigors of military service and the challenges of providing mental health care in diverse and demanding environments.

Amy Pierce, PMHNP is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience helping individuals feel their best and navigate life's challenges. She received her medical education at Duke University, and specialized training in Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins. She provides psychiatric assessments and treatment that may include therapy and/or medication as appropriate. Outside of work, Amy enjoys travel, hiking, and baking.

Ada Nwanegbo, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a master’s from Walden University. Passionate about patient-centered care, she strives to break language and cultural barriers in mental health. Fluent in English and Ibo, Ada combines evidence-based treatment with a holistic approach, fostering a safe and supportive environment for her patients. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, music, walking, nature, traveling, and quality time with loved ones, believing that engaging in activities enhances mental well-being and social connections.

Ada Nwanegbo, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a master’s from Walden University. Passionate about patient-centered care, she strives to break language and cultural barriers in mental health. Fluent in English and Ibo, Ada combines evidence-based treatment with a holistic approach, fostering a safe and supportive environment for her patients. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, music, walking, nature, traveling, and quality time with loved ones, believing that engaging in activities enhances mental well-being and social connections.

Erin Atkinson, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a degree from Regis College. She places emphasis on the significance of empathetic, patient-centered care for each individual. Erin entered the field in efforts to decrease the stigma surrounding mental health and provide those access to care. Erin strives to provide a safe and collaborative approach for her patients to feel supported and heard. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling. Erin is focused on her patient's mental wellness journey and looks forward to being a part of it!

Erin Atkinson

Erin Atkinson, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a degree from Regis College. She places emphasis on the significance of empathetic, patient-centered care for each individual. Erin entered the field in efforts to decrease the stigma surrounding mental health and provide those access to care. Erin strives to provide a safe and collaborative approach for her patients to feel supported and heard. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling. Massa Sammah is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She completed her clinical training at McLean Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, gaining experience in the treatment of various mood disorders, including anxiety and depression, as well as neurotherapeutics. Her approach is rooted in patient-centered care, where she combines compassion and her clinical expertise to address each patient’s unique needs and daily challenges.

Her approach is rooted in patient-centered care, where she combines compassion and her clinical expertise to address each patient’s unique needs and daily challenges.
